Liverpool and North West

Contemplative Outreach North West was established following a weekend visit to Liverpool by Cynthia Bourgeault in May 2019. The numbers of people attending a range of events over that weekend made clear the hunger for more teaching about and practice of contemplative approaches to prayer.

Since then a Centering Prayer group has been meeting at Liverpool Cathedral every week. We have also run a day on the Welcoming Practice, which is Centering Prayer’s companion piece for taking contemplative practice into daily life, as well as a 40-day online follow-up.

Contemplative Outreach North West aims to promote the practice of Centering Prayer and other contemplative prayer practices through Introductory Days, workshops, conferences, retreats and quiet days. We hope to build a strong community of encouragement to support each other’s practice and to learn together in a contemplative forum in which every participant, no matter how long they have practiced, is always at some level still a beginner.

We are keen to enable the development of Centering Prayer groups across the North West. So please get in touch if you would like any further information or would like to talk about running an Introductory Day in your area.
