Centering Prayer: Deepening our Understanding and Practice

This one-day workshop led by Rev. Mark Waters is aimed at those who have grasped the basics of Centering Prayer and are ready to take the next step in their appreciation of the method. The day will allow opportunity for participants to share their difficulties and questions around the practice in a supportive and positive environment. It will also look at some key ideas in Centering Prayer theory, including:

• Thomas Keating’s brilliant psychological underpinning of Centering Prayer
• An exploration of exactly what is going on when we practice Centering Prayer
• The importance of compassion and self-compassion
