The Welcoming Practice (Liverpool)

January 18, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

£20

Led by Fr Richard Sloan and Revd Mark Waters

The Welcoming Practice is a method of consenting to God’s presence and action in and through the experiences of the everyday. It offers healing of our woundedness by addressing its symptoms as they show themselves in our emotional and bodily responses to the events of daily life. It complements the practice of daily silent prayer.

The Welcoming Practice invites us to greater inner awakening by helping us break the negative cycle of automatic emotional responses. It enables us to step back into a more spacious inner place where we are more able to choose our responses to life.

This introductory day will:

  • provide periods of silent Centering Prayer
  • outline the psychological ideas underpinning the Welcoming Practice
  • identify ways of breaking unhelpful emotional and thought processes
  • experience the Welcoming Practice as a way of carrying contemplative prayer into daily life
