Contemplative Outreach: Southern Counties promotes the practice of Centering Prayer through Taster sessions, quiet days and local groups. We build communities of encouragement, supporting each other’s practice and learning together.
Taster Sessions
Introductory sessions in Centering Prayer are offered to small and large groups. These will describe the meditation method and how to deal with the thoughts which inevitably flood the mind as we come to silence. There will be an opportunity to experience a Centering Prayer sit and ask any questions.
Centering Prayer Groups
We offer a number of Centering Prayer groups. While Centering Prayer can be done privately most of the time, a regular sharing of personal experience is very supportive and a place of learning. It serves as a means of accountability and encouragement to remain committed to the daily practice. By sharing our experience of Centering Prayer with others, one’s own discernment of the ups and downs of the practice is sharpened and the spiritual friendship that we offer one another provides a space in which to grow. We are companions together on a transformational journey.
