Welcome to Contemplative Outreach North
Work on Centering Prayer initiatives in the northern counties is in a stage of development. We currently have two regional coordinators - Revd. Mel King for Yorkshire and the North East, and Revd. Mark Waters for Merseyside and the North West.
We aim to support a growing interest in Centering prayer and associated prayer groups in the North by offering Introductory Days, Quiet Days and Retreats, which you can find on this website, along with pointers to resources. We will endeavour to respond to enquiries as best we are able with the resources we have at present. We look forward to hearing from you.
Introductory Days
An Introductory Day will give a foundation in the practice and the conceptual background of Centering Prayer, to support you as you begin. If you would like to know more or participate in regular practice with a group we offer an optional follow up of six further sessions. These 90-minute gatherings provide an opportunity to be in silence, then watch and discuss a DVD or material from a book. Getting together with others is a powerful way of encouraging and developing our own practice. We will be happy to respond to requests for support as much as our resources allow. A half day with with two times of Centering Prayer, and shared reflection on material from the Centering Prayer tradition. Tea/coffee provided. Followed by optional informal lunch & book news at Bar Convent Cafe.
